Research Interest Pertaining to
SAFS project:
Through readings about ancient civilizations and their agriculture,
I realized what a short term view farmers take in this country
and how many problems our present farming systems would have
if we tried to maintain them for hundreds of years. In my
farm operation, I assess each practice used and try new ones
to move in a more sustainable direction, but am limited by
short term economic constraints and lack of scientific analysis
to see what is really going on. This project is addressing
many of the questions I have about new crop rotation possibilities
and their impact on improving soil health, which is the key
to long term food production.
